Charles Douglas Shewbart was born in Franklin County on July 30, 1951 to Charles Jack and Marveline (Humphries) Shewbart. Doug stayed in Franklin County for the entirety of his life. He had many trades and professions throughout the years. He worked in logging, he was a fireman, paramedic, equipment operator, and also worked as a mechanics tool-room supervisor at G&G Steel, where he eventually retired after 23 years. Doug also proudly served his Country in the National Guard for 10 years.
Doug was preceded in death by grandparents, Clarence and Esther Shewbart, and Tommy and Vassie Humphries; in-laws, Charles and Gloria Ann McKinney; and brother-in-law, Michael Dyar.
He leaves many behind to cherish his memory, including Debbie, his wife of 45 years; his children, Jessica (Todd) Lindquist and Jada (Matt) Squyres; granddaughters Hayley and Addison King, who were the joy of his life and were always his partners in hunting, fishing, skinning a deer, riding 4-wheelers, and anything else “papa” came up with; siblings, Connie Pendegraph and John (Jamie) Shewbart; brother-in-laws, John McKinney, and Randy McKinney (Cindy); sister-in-law, Charlotte Dyar; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be John Shewbart, Todd Lindquist, Chris Smith, William Washington, Sam Presley, Ken Arnett, and Kurt Arnett.
On any given Saturday during football season, Doug could always be found watching the Alabama Crimson Tide play with his family. Roll Tide to all……..
Visitation will be 11:00 AM-1:00 PM Friday, February 23, at Pinkard Funeral Home in Russellville, Alabama. The Funeral Services will immediately follow the visitation at 1:00 PM in the Chapel with Bro. Kris Green officiating. Burial will be at Dempsey Cemetary.
