MARIETTA, MS – James Washington McCalmon, 86, died Saturday, November 19, 2022 at his residence. He was born in Golden, MS, was a carpenter and attended Martin Hill Free Will Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, November 22, 1 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Belmont, MS with Bro. Jerry Ginn and Bro. David Harper officiating. Burial will be in Belmont City Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his daughters, Peggy Newborn (Kenny), Nancy Yates (Don) and Kathy McCalmon (Danny); one son, David McCalmon; one brother, Gene McCalmon (Virginia); one sister, Rosemary Goddard; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle McCalmon; his daughter-in-law, Carla McCalmon; his mother, Mollie Hardcastle; his father, William Elrod and ten brothers and sisters.
Pallbearers will be Michael Jones, Dustin Jones, Jordan Jones, Lynn Nichols, Devin Michael and Dillon Rogers. Honorary pallbearers will be Bryson Huddleston and Byron Skelton.
Visitation will be Monday, November 21, 5-9 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS.
