BELMONT, MS — Jerry Wayne Bennett, 68, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at his home, surrounded by the love of his family. Jerry was born in Waukegan, Illinois, to J.W. Bennett and Gay Bennett. He graduated from Waukegan High School and spent his early working years in Illinois before moving to Belmont, Mississippi. There, he worked alongside his family at Jay’s Greenery before dedicating 30 years of service to UPS, retiring after a long and faithful career.

Jerry was a man of quiet strength, a gentle heart, and unwavering kindness. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. Those who knew him best will remember his thoughtful nature, meticulous attention to detail, and the genuine care and compassion he showed to everyone around him.

An avid outdoorsman, Jerry found great joy in spending time in nature. He especially loved fishing and treasured the countless hours spent on the water. He also enjoyed deer and turkey hunting, sharing many adventures and stories with family and friends. Above all, Jerry loved his family. Nothing brought him greater happiness than being with those he loved, especially his granddaughter, Alara, whom he cherished watching grow.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 3:00 p.m. at Belmont Methodist Church in Belmont, Mississippi. Visitation will take place from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Deaton Funeral Home of Belmont, Mississippi, is in charge of the arrangements.

Jerry is survived by his devoted wife, Patricia Bennett; his mother, Gay Bennett; his children, Jessica (Matt) Lewis, Amanda Bennett, and Jayme (Albine) Bennett; his grandchildren, Bearice, Henry, Amaya, and Alara; and his sisters, Barb Lund, Pam (Rick) Hicks, and Rebecca (Robert) Dickinson. He is also survived by numerous extended family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.W. Bennett, and his brother-in-law, Don Lund.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the nurses and staff of Gentiva Hospice for the compassionate care, kindness, and support they provided during Jerry’s final days.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jayme Bennett, Joel Horn, Keith Bennett, Kim Lotz, Dennis Collins, and Robert Dickinson.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the South Tishomingo County Food Pantry, P.O. Box 744, Belmont, MS 38827, where Jerry volunteered for many years and formed many cherished friendships.

Though he will be deeply missed, Jerry’s legacy of kindness, humility, generosity, and love for family will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
