BELMONT, MS – Douglas Edwin Gardner, 78, passed away Wednesday, February 25, 2026 at NMMC in Tupelo, MS. He was a disabled veteran of the US Army and a member of Dennis First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be Friday, February 27, 2 p.m. at Dennis First Baptist Church with Bro. Adam Humphries officiating. Visitation will be Friday, February 27, 12-2 p.m. at Dennis First Baptist Church. Burial will be in Dennis Memory Gardens. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Carolyn Gardner; children, Chad Gardner (Trinity), Johnson Gattis, Emma Gattis, Paul Gattis (Laura), Jason Eaton (Jennifer) and Steven Gattis (Lori); grandchildren, Justin Gardner, Jordan Gardner, Jessica Isbell, Katherine Thomas, Matthew Putman, Rorin Eaton, Allison Eaton, Blake Eaton, Paige Smith and Cody Gattis; two sisters, Carol Parsons and Cheryl Frazier; two brothers, Gary Gardner and Don Gardner and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Chad Gardner, Jr. and a brother, Barry Gardner.
Pallbearers will be Johnson Gattis, Rorin Eaton, Paul Gattis, Chad Gardner, Matthew Putman and Jason Eaton. Honorary pallbearers will be Allan Oliver, Justin Gardner and Jordan Gardner.
