With no due respect to her, Texas Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee is a raving, power-mad, senseless and dangerous threat to freedom in America. She also apparently does not know the meaning of the phrase “shall not be infringed.”
Lee, a Democrat, is the sponsor of House Resolution 127, also known as the “Sabika Sheikh Firearm Licensing and Registration Act.” The measure, which was referred to the Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security on March 1, would effectively and essentially make gun ownership – which is protected, for now, under the Second Amendment – a thing of the past for many law-abiding U.S. citizens. It would also make rounds of ammunition larger than .50 caliber – including 12-gauge shotgun shells – illegal to own.
Described as having the intent “To provide for the licensing of firearm and ammunition possession and the registration of firearms, and to prohibit the possession of certain ammunition,” the law would authorize the Department of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms to establish within three months of the law’s passage a database that would be searchable by the public (so anyone can see and know what you own), and all gun owners would be required to register all guns in their possession within that three-month period. It would require all citizens 21 and older to apply for a gun license and require an $800 annual fee for that license as an insurance policy (fancy name for a tax). You’d have to turn in any current magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammo. And that AR-15 sport or hunting rifle you own? Illegal.
It would also require anyone with an antique firearm to purchase a license and to “describe the manner in which the firearm will be displayed.” That’s in your home. If that weren’t invasive enough, psychological exam will be required. They not only want inside your home, they want inside your head.
I could go on, but I can’t. It’s sickening just getting through this level of the proposed act.
Folks, this is dangerous stuff. Think about the $800 licensure alone. That’s $800 that you spend on something else right now each year that would all of a sudden have to go to the government in order to meet this insane legal bar.
But what of the current law-abiding Americans who don’t follow all of these new requirements? They would be subject to fines ranging from $30,000 to $150,000, and imprisonment up to 25 years, or both. You read that right. Child rapists get off with lesser punishment. Shows you where some of these evil, demented Congresspeople’s priorities lie.
Oh, and you know criminals would immediately abide by the law. They always do.
Sheila Jackson Lee, I know you’re not reading this but you or at least someone unfortunate enough to work on your staff should. I’m here to tell you this “act” is nothing less than a violation of the Constitution, that thing you, I guess, swore to uphold. Maybe your fingers were crossed behind your back. Or your shoelaces were crossed. There are definitely some wires crossed in your head.
I probably should stop before this reaches the level of being considered inciting an insurrection or a riot or being perceived as a threat. I just wish people who vote for the likes of Sheila Jackson Lee or those with similar political views would pull their head out of their large intestine long enough to realize where this is headed. Unfortunately, I think too many people are more concerned about Harry and Meghan than they are that their freedoms are in jeopardy because of loons like Sheila Jackson Lee. Too many people are so beholden to political party that they cannot see they are being led to slaughter by the very politicians cooing sweet, sensual lies in their ears.
The only saving grace, possibly, is this bill does not stand much chance in its current state of becoming law. It’s telling that there are (as of this writing) no co-sponsors on the measure. The deeply troubling thing, though, is this signals where left-wing liberals want to go in regard to their holy grail of “gun control.”
In Alabama, Rep. James Hanes, along with five cosponsors, has introduced HB 157. Titled the Alabama Second Amendment Preservation Act, the legislation would “ban any public officer or employee of the state from enforcing or attempting to enforce any past, present, or future federal acts, laws, orders, rules, or regulations which infringe on the people’s right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution.”
Sadly, I think we are at a place in our history where the states are going to have to push back against rogue elements and politicians in Washington who are bloodthirsty for power and control. My fear is if the states don’t stand up to this encroachment on our rights that when the crap finally does hit the fan the march on the Capitol in January will look like child’s play compared to what could come.
Sheila Jackson Lee, you won’t be able to blame that one on Orange Man. The blame will sit squarely on your shoulders.
