BANNER COMMUNITY | Members of the Banner-Bounds Volunteer Fire Department have a target date of this fall to move into their new, much larger facility on Hwy. 23, and they are working on fundraisers to help finish out the building’s interior.

Fire Chief Chris Kelton said the Department is holding a raffle on a custom-made trailer and has a poker run motorcycle ride planned for Saturday, June 20, starting at the fire station at 26500 Hwy. 23 North.

The Poker Run is open to all riders, and registration will begin at 8 a.m. Saturday, with the ride beginning at 10 a.m. The run will cover more than 100 miles. Single riders are $20, and double riders will be $25. Food will be provided by the fire department, with a 50/50 raffle and door prizes awarded after the ride.

The 6×10 trailer is being built by Kelton and will feature a fire-engine red finish and wooden deck. Chances are available from any Banner-Bounds volunteer firefighter and are $5 for one chance or $10 for three.

For more information, go the Banner Bounds VFD Facebook page or call Kelton at 256-460-8223 or Billy Petty at 662-321-7291.

Funds raised will help the department finish the inside of the new station. According to Kelton, the new building is more than double the size of the current station, with a large portion to be used as a community center meeting space. It replaces the current station, which is a 30×40 building and the former Community Center, which was the building that originally housed Banner School. That building was once slated for demolition, but those plans have since been dropped.
