Area residents looking to get out of the house and be part of a parade to thank essential workers in the community can do so Friday morning.

The City of Red Bay is hosting an Essential Worker Appreciation Car Parade on Friday morning. Participants, who are required to stay in their vehicles, will line up at Red Bay High school starting at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, April 24. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. and will be lead by Red Bay Police Chief Janna Jackson. The parade route will go through Main Street, up Golden Road to 10thAvenue, then north on Hwy. 11 to Hospital Road. The parade route will end after passing Red Bay Pharmacy.

Anyone can be a part of the parade, and Mayor Charlene Fancher said participants can decorate their vehicles, blow their horns and wave signs of “Thank You!”

When Red Bay's satellite office of the Franklin County Revenue Commissioner reopens Tuesday, expect lines, wait times and a new look inside as framing is up for permanent glass, which will be installed when it arrives in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, plexiglass partitions, built for the office by Commissioner David "Opie" Hester, sit on tables that will add distance between the tax and tag office employees and customers. A limit of two customers at a time will be allowed in the building. (News photo/Jason Collum)
